Today is the 18th September 2021 for many of us and 17 September for others and we are seeing this in our web browsers when we visit the Ancestry website.

Understanding the Improvements

When you look at your DNA Ethnicity Map there are a couple of links in the white Ethnicity estimate frame to click on.

1) in case you missed the Learn More on your home page here is is again in a Updated announcement.

2) The extra information worth reading is How do we Calculate this? 


It is worth remembering that Ethnicity estimates at any company only reflect where your SOME of your ancestors living in the past. At AncestryDNA Regions reflect where some ancestors were 500-1000 years ago and Communities from 50-300 years ago.

To Find your previous Ethnicity Estimate

When viewing your DNA story - with the map - on the right hand side menu, Scroll down

Till you see the Updated on Date Year at the bottom, click in the 'i' for information to see the pop up box.

Voila - the link to your previous estimate

Then you can click on Ethnicity Update to compare the difference
